If you have been following me for awhile, you know I am not afraid of color and I love the challenge of making a common kids theme aesthetically pleasing. When my hot wheels obsessed little man requested this theme I was instantly excited to bring this party to life! Classic checkerboard pattern paired with shades of blue and orange and pops of chrome is definitely something I can work with!
I typically start with the tablescape. In this case I built one for the kids table and a second for the adults. I knew I wanted a bounce house and ball pit to entertain the kids. The initial vision was to hang streamers across end of the slide to appear like a car wash. I still think this is a cool idea, but I prioritized other elements. I’m not sure if my balloon artists hate me or love me, but I am always asking them to do things they haven’t done before. This time, the request was for an orange hot wheels track loop made out of balloons that would go over the ball pit. I was inspired by a walk through arch Pop Pop Balloon LLC created and knew Amanda with Ginger Pop Balloons could make our balloon arch dreams come true! Spoiler alert- she did! I also knew I wanted to use the line “Hot Wheels, Let’s Race” from the Netflix Hot Wheels show theme song as our primary backdrop using marquees and balloons.
Finally, I knew my little man LOVES slushies from Brisa & Co. so I started dreaming up a cute cart set up with a custom menu!

I loved working with Chatham Station in Cary, NC for this event. The venue was once a train station and the textured brick walls, rustic exposed ceiling and the natural light pouring through the black grid roll-up garage doors made Chatham Station the perfect space to bring this party to life!
If you are looking to create a memorable backdrop at your next party, look no further than LED Marquees with custom inserts and balloons. This design greeted guests as they entered the venue and is still talked about months later. The picture doesn’t fully capture the experience of seeing the darting lights running along the perimeter of each letter. It was so fun!

Can you even with how stunning the colors pop on the pastel blue hue of this Sweet Bounce House beauty? I am obsessed.

The vision for a track over the ball pit was brought together perfectly. My little man in his custom race car driver suit and his friends had a blast jumping, sliding and playing with hot wheels in the ball pit. We didn’t need any other activities to keep the kids entertained.

The tables and orange metal chairs from Ribbon & Blue mixed with our blue ghost chairs were the perfect combination to set the scene for this race themed party table. First I placed the black and white checkerboard runner down the center of each table. Then I layered the Palisades Blue and White stripped dinner plates with the flaming wheel dessert plates. To the left of the plates I layered a checkerboard lunch napkin with a monster truck napkin. The chrome plastic cutlery was just what the table setting needed to be complete. Bottled water and frozen mocktails were served in a different area so the place setting did not include a cup for the party. Instead, I added the party favor, a 14 oz. Flip Straw Stanley Tumbler to each place setting. Finally, Golden Flora worked her magic with these tire stack pencil holders I found on Amazon. Note: I covered the hole on the bottom with black duck tape and I didn’t have any leakage.

Violet River Lane Catering provided us with an amazing quesadilla bar and themed kid charcuterie. They always nail the details. You can never go wrong with the kid charcuterie. Xochitl Cakes brought our Hot Wheels cake dreams to life with hot wheels racing up a spiraling track to the finish line on top of the cake! Xochitl Cakes’ flavors are phenomenal. Our family favorite is the marble cake with cookies and cream filling.

Earlier in the year my son had fallen in love with Brisa & Co during a styled shoot. I didn’t realize how much frozen goodness he had consumed until others started commenting on how much he was enjoying the slushies! We think he had around six cups so I knew we HAD to bring Brisa & Co. to his party!
